What's in My Purse

Okay, I'm unzipping my purse now.
If you're wondering, right now I'm using my champagne-colored Coach purse. It has other features, obviously, but I'm not going to get into the details, because that's not what this post is about.
To be clear, I don't keep trash or receipts in my purse like some of the beauty gurus do on YouTube. I'm a very organized and hygienic person, so I just get those things out as soon as I get home.

  • Wallet
    • Cash and change
    • CVS ExtraCare Card
  • Phone and phone case/cover
  • Sometimes: Headphones (I only keep them in my purse during long car trips or anytime I can see myself using them)
  • SheMergency Kit (prepackaged kit for women. I added some things and took some out though, there were some ridiculous things in there that I'd never need, and some that weren't there).
    • Cherry ChapStick-like lip balm (I keep another lip product in my bag too, because this lip balm is horrible but useful as a backup)
    • Breath drops
    • Tampon (made by the same company who made the kit)
    • Mini hairspray
    • Mini nail file
    • Packet of double sided tape
    • Packet of stain remover
    • My addition: band-aid
    • My addition: one of those hand sanitizer wipes from a restaurant
    • Mini sewing kit, with buttons and safety pin
    • My addition: toothpick (for teeth)
  • Only in the winter: EOS hand lotion
  • One green hair tie
  • Advil in a mints tin (I filled the empty space with a tissue because the clanging noise bothers me)
  • Listerine Cool Mint POCKETPAKS breath strips
  • Lip gloss or lipstick (whichever one I'm wearing that day)
  • Compact mirror
  • Travel size Dove deodorant in Cool Essentials
  • Sunglasses (if I have enough room. The case they came with is huge.)
But really, if I'm going somewhere and I don't want to take my whole purse, I can get away with just taking my phone and some money. In all honesty, I don't use all these things but I feel the need to fill up my purse and I like taking a purse because my purse is pretty! I use it as more of an accessory.

The Importance of Minis

Before I start my routine rant, let me clear this up. A "mini" is a mini version of a product. A travel size, if you will.
Some ideas for minis:

  • The Gillette Venus Snap, which is a mini razor that supposedly only requires water to work. (Bullshit, you'd get the worst razor burn! I'd carry around a travel size shaving cream if I had this.)
  • Deodorant. I always find myself in need of deodorant, because I often forget to put it on before I leave the house, or I need more throughout the day, if it's a particularly hot day or I'm at gym class. See, that is one huge advantage of swimming. You don't have to deal with sweat! Wonderful!
  • Hairbrush. There's a compact one by The Wet Brush that I'd love to have. But it's $10 and I'm pretty cheap, so I took a pass on that one.
  • Toothbrushes. Like the Colgate Wisps. Wouldn't it be convenient to have little mini toothbrushes wherever you go? I have braces and this feels like the ultimate necessity. I remember this one time at lunch when I ate an apple or lettuce or something, and it was living hell until I got home and brushed my teeth. I just hate having to pick all that stuff out with my tongue. I'm usually at it for hours. Maybe I should just give up and carry a normal toothbrush and mini toothpaste. That way, I could brush my teeth EVERY SINGLE TIME I go out to eat. That would be quite obsessive and weird, however, so I will not do that.
  • Breath mints. Strong ones, that actually work. Like the Listerine POCKETPAKS Breath Strips. They actually work, I've had one before.
  • Wallet. All womens' wallets these days are huge! My wallet takes up a ton of space in my small purse. Although, I usually have empty space anyway (which I like to occupy with my large sunglasses case).
But the thing is, each of these things cost $10 per pack. Let's say you get one of each, you're out fifty bucks. Maybe I should just give up and buy all these things... I don't know, I'll figure it out. It's just that I've been in so many situations where I've needed these things (well, except maybe the mini razor. I could use it when I go on vacation! Nah, I can skip that one. It's just so cute though!).
  • I mean, wouldn't it be nice, if the next time I ate out and had horrible breath, I had a toothbrush waiting in my purse?
  • Or next time I get sweaty walking around town, I'll have deodorant set and ready?
  • Or next time my hair gets tangly and frizzy from the humid air, I'll have a hairbrush whenever I need it? Wouldn't that be wonderful?
I could SO see myself using these things. Tomorrow I'm going to buy the Colgate mini toothbrushes, and the mini deodorant. And maybe the mini hairbrush if I can find one that doesn't look cheapy.

CVS has got to be my favorite store. I go there all the time! Isn't that kind of sad, though, for my favorite store to be a drugstore? My friend asked me yesterday what my favorite store is. I automatically thought of clothing stores, but I haven't really been buying all that many clothes lately, and I shop at a variety of stores. I have a couple pieces from Aeropostale, a bunch of stuff from H&M, Delia's, a few things from Forever21. But I go to CVS all the time. It's so convenient, there's one everywhere.

The Importance of Ringtones.

Although nobody ever hears my ringtone because people text now instead of calling, I think it's important to have a good ringtone.
This is because whenever someone calls me, I assume it's someone else's phone that's ringing because I don't usually recieve a lot of calls. But if I had a unique ringtone that nobody else had, I'd know it when someone was calling me.
A few months ago, I made my own ringtone out of Sail by AWOLNATION. But I got bored of it after a while (because I listened to that song on repeat for like 2 weeks), so I switched it to Old Telephone which is just the regular ringing. But last week, my brother was coming to pick me up from a friend's house and called me repeatedly and I didn't pick up until after multiple calls because I assumed someone else's phone was ringing.
So today, I was bored and a random thought popped into my head: the Buffy the Vampire Slayer theme song would be PERFECT for a ringtone! So I made that into a ringtone, and that's my current one. I had nothing else to do, so I made a few more (Boom Clap and Oh No, plus one for my friend).

Honestly though, I probably won't even use the ringtone all that much because nobody calls me anymore.
However, I'm sure it will come in handy at some point.

Here's how I made my ringtones:
That link jumps to the method I used. They give you four methods you can use, but I used the third, which is doing it manually using iTunes, to avoid viruses and to get the best sound quality possible.
I have to say, I'm quite proud of myself for making all these ringtones.

Random jumble of thoughts.

I am still in the midst of the non-blogging period in my life, which usually occurs a few months after I get a new blog and write write write all the time. Yes, that's still happening right now. I think. I guess we won't know until it's actually over. And then I'll blog for a few months and then take another break.

A few short minutes ago, I found myself turning to texting a friend. Who is asleep. And will not answer, not a chance. And I knew that when I texted her, I just needed to get my thoughts out. So I realized this and caught myself in the act. I had nowhere to turn. Alas, here I am to share my thoughts with you. (You can be sure I looked up "alas" in the dictionary before using it here. I like using big words.)

All taken from a few long texts to my sleeping friend.
It all started when I thought about going out in public once again. You see, I've been "binge watching" (as one friend described it) Buffy the Vampire Slayer for about a week. I haven't seen the light of day in a long time. (actually, that's not true. I still have swimming.)
I thought, "what would I wear if I were to go out in public?"
Then I thought about how much I have been neglecting my beautiful skirts this summer. I'll admit, some of them don't fit, but I can still squeeze into them. Probably. In any case, I haven't been wearing them at all, due to my extreme laziness in outfit planning ever since summer started. Must be the heat.
Having made a new discovery, I see this as a good opportunity to do lots of outfit planning to maximize the amount of time that I look cute in public.
Then my mind wandered, and I started thinking about making an opportunity to dress up, and where would I go, and obviously I would take my friends too, but people have to witness out cuteness, so it has to be public. Preferably with people we know there.
And of course my mind wandered to another topic of why I like planning outfits at all. I narrowed it down to:

  1. I am obsessively organized. For example, I rotate my wearing of bikinis AND all my bottoms have tops to go with them and vice versa. ALSO, once I have a set pair of which top goes with which bottom, there is NO mixing and matching. No, because I have to rotate them, which wouldn't work if I wore one bottom with multiple tops! Simple!
  2. The "I haven't been outside in a week" thing. I'll be around living, breathing humans outside my family, which I haven't done for over a week I'm sure.
  3. I need a change. I've been doing the same thing all week. I'll make a change! I'll do serious outfit planning tomorrow. Serious I tell you! So long as I can pry myself away from Buffy.
And that's where I trailed off, hoping to continue on this blog post.
The point of this blog post is that tomorrow (between babysitting and swimming), I will do outfit planning and I will enjoy it! I will try on tons of outfits (and have to fold them all, yay) and take pictures and everything.
I'll have multiple outfits at the ready in case I need a quick outfit anytime.

If you're lucky, I'll even post the outfits on here!
